Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our decommissioning services, equipment buying, and how we work.

Decommissioning Services

What is turnkey data center decommissioning?

Turnkey data center decommissioning is the complete, end-to-end process of safely shutting down, disconnecting, removing, and disposing of all critical infrastructure within a data center. We handle everything from initial assessment through final closeout documentation, including power systems, cooling equipment, batteries, and hazardous materials.

How quickly can you mobilize to my site?

We can typically have crews on-site anywhere in the continental US within 3-5 business days. For urgent projects, we offer expedited mobilization. Contact us to discuss your timeline requirements.

Do you work with demolition contractors?

Yes, we regularly partner with demolition contractors on pre-demolition electrical removal. We coordinate scheduling, handle all critical infrastructure removal, and ensure the facility is ready for structural demolition.

What documentation do you provide after a project?

We provide comprehensive closeout packages including equipment inventories, disposal manifests, recycling certificates, chain-of-custody documentation, and asset recovery reports. This documentation supports LEED certification and regulatory compliance.

Equipment & Asset Recovery

What types of equipment do you buy?

We purchase circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, panelboards, motor control centers, bus duct, and other electrical distribution equipment. We buy from individuals, contractors, facilities, and demolition companies.

How do I get a quote for my equipment?

Contact us with details about your equipment including manufacturer, model numbers, quantities, and condition. Photos of nameplates are helpful. We'll provide a quote typically within 24-48 hours.

Can asset recovery offset my decommissioning costs?

Yes, in many cases. Depending on the equipment involved, asset recovery can offset 30-100% of decommissioning project costs. UPS systems, switchgear, transformers, and generators often have significant resale value.

Do you buy equipment that's not working?

Yes, we purchase equipment in various conditions. Non-working equipment may have value for parts or refurbishment. We also handle proper disposal of equipment that has no resale value.

Sustainability & Compliance

Are your processes LEED compliant?

Yes. Our decommissioning processes support LEED certification, particularly the Construction & Demolition Waste Management credits. We track all materials, maximize diversion from landfill, and provide documentation for LEED submissions.

How do you handle hazardous materials?

We follow all EPA and state regulations for hazardous materials including batteries, refrigerants, oils, and PCB-containing equipment. We partner with licensed disposal facilities and provide proper manifests and documentation.

What is R2 certification?

R2 (Responsible Recycling) is a certification standard for electronics recyclers. It ensures proper data destruction, environmental responsibility, and no export of hazardous materials to developing countries. We partner with R2-certified recyclers for e-waste.

What percentage of materials do you divert from landfill?

On typical projects, we achieve 90% or higher diversion rates. Materials are either resold for reuse, recycled for raw materials, or properly disposed of through licensed facilities.
